Sunday 15, 1863 May Thursday 7 1863 the papers last night were all wrong again and oh what trouble it is it is now 3 o clock am nothing done it seem the sergeon are trying to dragg my bones to the grave in Kentucky they might have made them and this morn it seems that I cannot Submit to fate the Capt has been mad because they were not right and I think if the Col had not have signed them they would have gone right ____________ [ page 65] Feb. Monday 16, 1863 Joseph Ringborough Owasso as it was or would answered but something seems to turn against me and if I go with the Regt I shall have to throw away 3 Blankets 3 pr pants 1 pr Boots 1 pr over shoes 1 pr drawers 4 shirts and i dont know have many socks and and one good dress coat 1 cap and my fur cap that leaves me one suit thro out 2 shirts 2 drawers 2 pr socks ____________ [ page 66] Feb. Tuesday 17, 1863 May 7 I have a hard pain in my left side but if energy will thro the fever off I shall do it But oh my soul only think forty miles from railroad and mail only once in two weeks and I cannot write to my beloved wife for two week If I could send a letter every day it would help me get well and then if she would put a mustard poltice on her side and write me of it it would just about cure me you see ____________ [ page 67] Feb. Wednesday 18, 1863 I feel bad and a joke at my own expense does me good if I am alone five oclock they have just commence making out my papers and I think they will be right for the medical Inspector he gives orders how they shall be made but I dont believe they will go to head quarters to night but they may Col Fox sent the capt a letter to mak out my papers immediately and they are at it in right good earnest ____________ [ page 68] Feb. Thursday 19, 1863 May 7 Col Fox is trying all he can to get my discharge and the sergeon just told me that the papers would be made out to night and he would take them down tomorrow morning that I could start tomorrow but oh hope thou hast fled by the fick fickleness of man whom I have trusted and so often been decieved, hope delusion, hope, blasting hope derisive Hope as changeable as the ____________ [ page 69] Feb.
